An interpreter deals with the spoken word or signed language (Auslan).
They interpret what someone is saying from one language into another. In a wedding the bride, the groom, the two witnesses and the celebrant must all speak and understand the same language.
It is not necessary for the interpreter to be accredited. Any person other than the Bride or Groom can be the interpreter.
